Information Architecture, UX Strategy,
Design, & Usability Testing
Bayerische Motoren Werke (better known as BMW) is one of Europe's top automakers. Its financial division requested that Scoresby first conduct a usability test of and recommend enhancements to their customer portal. Subsequently, they engaged us to design a corporate intranet to serve employees and contractors in North, Central, and South America.
Our challenge was to create a compelling intranet that gives autonomy and flexibility to departments, divisions, and countries, while maintaining BMW's corporate identity guidelines. To this end, we designed a single intranet that feels as if each country has their own unique space, establishing an information architecture and set of templates with enough rigidity to keep the system usable over time but with enough flexibility to avoid stifling department creativity.
The new intranet allows employees to be more autonomous and requires far less support than the old one. Additionally, departments and other internal groups understand and have championed the established standards for publishing content.
Abercrombie & Fitch
UX Audit & Design
This Fortune 1000 retailer operates some 1,125 stores in the US, Canada, and the UK, and also sells via its catalog and online. They contacted Scoresby Interactive via our partner ICC for help creating a dynamic employee intranet which contains fresh, valuable, and easy to find information, and which is representative of the A&F culture
Our solution was to blend department-managed content and forms with aspects of social networking, such as:
- viewing of web cam feeds
- posting of photos and other media
- following other employees' activity to track new and popular content
As a result of this redesign, employees report that the revitalized intranet is much more inviting, compelling, and easier to navigate.
Medical Mutual of Ohio
Expert Review & UX Strategy
With its headquarters in downtown Cleveland, Medical Mutual is the oldest and largest health insurance company in Ohio. It provides nearly 4 million people with group and individual health insurance products, dental, vision, and prescription drug benefits.
Medical Mutual engaged Scoresby Interactive to analyze the interaction design of three B2C systems. We developed an extensive report of the findings, identifying weaknesses and providing suggestions for redesign.
In a subsequent project, we established a user experience strategy for integrating the interfaces of eight disparate systems into one cohesive platform.
Procter & Gamble Purchasing
UX Strategy, Design, and Usability Testing
Procter & Gamble is a multinational Fortune 50 corporation that manufactures a wide range of consumer goods. P&G charged Scoresby Interactive with designing a new intranet purchasing portal to handle the annual procurement of over $12 Billion in goos and services by P&G employees worldwide.
We interviewed employees and met with company representatives to establish requirements for the portal. Then we designed and tested a user interface which connects with P&G's existing SAP implementation. Our design accommodates various languages, is portable to small-screen displays, and requires much less training than the previous system.
The solution ultimately received P&G's Global Award of Excellence for Employee Satisfaction
