The Motorists Insurance Group has been in business for more than 75 years. It markets competitive personal, commercial and life insurance products through a network of nearly 3,000 independent agents in several states.
Motorists hired Scoresby Interactive to increase independent insurance agents' ease of doing business with Motorists by creating a policy quoting/issuing web application which leapfrogs over competing products. We started by evaluating competitors' products and conducting field studies to understand the end user. Then we led the conception and design of three very successful web applications targeted to Motorists' independent agents.
Policies issued per agency increased by 150% in the first two quarters following launch of the initial quoting application. Agents are delighted. They require no training or documentation, and they report it's the easiest system they've ever used.
In a subsequent project, we established an enterprise-wide strategy to bring together multiple technology efforts into one cohesive user experience.
Usability Audit & Design
Founded in 1935, Grange Insurance and Grange Life offer auto, commercial, farm, homeowners, and life insurance coverage to customers in about a dozen US states. Grange sells their products through a network of independent agents.
Grange initially engaged Scoresby Interactive to review a customer portal and offer redesigns for it. We provided an uncomplicated design that significantly enhanced both, the customers' capabilities and the portal's ease of use.
Subsequently, Grange engaged Scoresby Interactive to conduct a series of facilitated sessions with a cross-departmental team tasked with establishing Grange's web strategy.
Customer Insight & Interaction Design
Century Insurance Group is a specialty lines insurer writing commercial property & casualty insurance for niche U.S. markets. Century depends on independent agencies to write and help maintain policies, so it's critical to provide those agents with highly usable tools that make it easy to do business with them.
We worked with Century to establish requirements and user interaction guidelines for a comprehensive agent intranet incorporating multiple sub-systems under a common look and feel. We conducted focus groups with agents to help establish requirements and user interaction guidelines; then, we designed the first sub-system—an agent-facing application for online quoting—to provide styles and patterns for future systems developed by Century.
Independent agents hailed the designs as much faster and easier to use, and were ecstatic about the level of autonomy and flexibility they provide.
